In partnership with Mosques and Councils of Mosques across England and Wales, Faith Associates through its Mosque Security project oversaw the delivery of a National Mosque Security Roadshow which started on Easter Bank Holiday weekend and finished on the 3rd may 2019. This roadshow involved ensuring Mosques have the right training and support to ensure Mosques and congregations are safe and secure in the run up to Ramadan.

In light of the horrendous terrorist attacks in New Zealand, and series of attacks on Mosques in the UK following this, we recognise that Muslim communities remain anxious. We are here to help ensure that the security of our mosques are maintained, especially during the busiest time of the year in the holy month of Ramadan. We covered security training and advice, as well as circulated leaflets to help protect places of worship from further hate crime attacks.

The training was supported by the Home Secretary Sajid Javid MP who in his press release stated:

“The government recognises that Muslim communities remain anxious following the horrendous attacks in New Zealand, and particularly in advance of Ramadan. The police and their partners are doing everything they can to ensure the safety of the public, particularly around religious festivals, and holy days. This will include operational policing plans for the Ramadan period.

In addition the Home Office will be supporting Faith Associates, an organisation which will provide security training and advice to Muslim places of worship in preparation for the Islamic holy month”
